City of New York Supports our Dreamers
The White House announced major changes to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA protects young immigrants from deportation and provides work authorization and many benefits to over 30,000 New Yorkers and 800,000 individuals across the country. The President is rescinding the program and allowing for a 6-month “wind-down” period, during which Congress will have the opportunity to pass legislation to maintain the program. This decision is an affront to immigrants across the nation and against our values here in NYC. Together, we will continue to stand up for our immigrant neighbors and colleagues as their lives and livelihoods are thrown into limbo.
