Benefits of an Advanced Regents Diploma

It is more rigorous to achieve an Advance Regents Diploma and is recommended for students who plan to attend college after high school. The Advance Regents Diploma shows you did more than the minimum to graduate high school. These students take tougher course, tend to enjoy learning and be more motivated. Many colleges and universities, especially in New York, give preference to students with an Advance Regents Diploma. An Advance Regents Diploma shows you had a sound high school education.

Commission of Education David Steiner said the Advance Regents Diploma should really be the standard. Some colleges exempt students from taking certain courses when they meet the requirements for an Advance Regents Diploma. One example is for foreign language; if students took three years of foreign language in high school and passed the Foreign Language Regents some colleges exempt them from the required college foreign language course. Other colleges exempt students from taking remedial and/or required college math courses. Having an Advance Regents Diploma can save you a lot of time and money in the future!

There is something personally gratifying about achieving an Advance Regents Diploma. You know you worked hard and strived to be the top graduates in the state and city. Furthermore, students that graduate with an Advance Regents Diploma increase the school’s Progress Report grade.
