2014 Summer Meals Program

I ask that you join me in promoting a tremendous service that New York City provides to all of our students. All children under the age of 18 are entitled to receive a free, healthy breakfast and lunch at over 1,000 neighborhood locations through August 29

I am deeply proud that our City offers this support to children who lack reliable access to basic nutrition, and I need your voice to spread the word and help families understand that this service is so readily accessible to children.

Any child in New York City can come in for a meal (typically offered on weekdays from 8:00–9:15 a.m. and from 11:00 a.m.–1:15 p.m., and on weekends in some locations). Children do not need to be enrolled in summer school and do not need to show any identification or documentation to participate. Please direct parents to visit the SchoolFood website, contact 311, or text “nycmeals” to 877877 for more information.

Access to healthy eating is just one aspect of our collective effort to educate the whole child.
